The Process + Care: Steps 1 to 10

1. Draw outline onto silk (not required) |
2. Attach silk to frame |

3. Wet silk with 5" badger hair brush |
4. Apply first layer of acid dyes |

5. Apply first layer of wax |
6. Wipe away water or dye spots on waxed areas and repeat steps 3-6 however many layers needed |

7. Create mordant using blended water and soy beans |
8. Apply the mordant using 5" badger hair brush onto both sides of silk |

 |
 | |
9. Iron out wax from silk |
10. Steam |
The Process + Care: How to Clean Your Silk
1. Use a few drops of non-alkaline soap, such as dishsoap,
to wash silk in basin of lukewarm water.
2. Let sit for a few minutes, then rinse thoroughly.
3. Roll in towel or gently squeeze out most of water before ironing dry.
